Hair-Dye Allergy causes Balloon-face

A woman from London was fighting to breathe after she felt allergic to the hair-dye and her face grew big like a balloon. 38 years old Paula Pratt, a production manager from Bognor Regis, West Sussex had to be admitted in hospital and treated with steroids and antihistamine tablets after her head and neck ballooned. She said that she conducted an allergic test with her Clairol Nice 'n Easy kit to colour her grey hair into chocolate brown. As there were no allergic reactions, she used them to colour her hair but the reactions appeared later the next evening. She said that her head, next and face began to swell and with the eyelids shutting her eyes. She added that the swelling started to spread down her throat and as a result she wasn’t able to breathe. She soon rushed to her General Practitioner where one side of her face bulged like a rugby ball. The GP looked her once and sent her soon to the Accident and Emergency section where the other side of the face too grew giving an appearance of an ‘elephant-face’. A spokesman from the Clairol said that allergies are very rare and requested the customers to observe a 48-hour test before using their hair-dyes.
